Looks a bit wide, but a 25.4 mm bore cylinder isn't very small either.

needs to be pretty wide as the cylinder is tranverse at the top, bore 25.4mm as you say but total length 4 inches or 100+ mm. All will become cleare as im starting on the cylinder this weekend and will mount it all up for a photo once some progress is made
